STUDENT COUNCIL

Our Student Council, comprising of two nominated pupils from each year
group plus the Year 11 Senior Prefects, have been working actively to
resolve some of the issues and concerns raised by their peers. Successes
this year include the Healthy Salad Bar which is proving more popular
than any other counter in the Canteen as well as promoting healthy
eating.
Thanks again to "nagging" from the council, 30 benches
funded by Communities First and assembled by Mr R Davies and Mr S
Blackmore have been placed in and around the school for pupils to enjoy.
The student council supported by Mrs K. Davies and Mrs
S. Hollister was also successful in bidding for a £700 Healthy Schools
grant to improve the fitness level of our pupils.
School Bench Donated
Children and parents gathered for a remembrance service in memory of pupil
Shannon Thomas. Headteacher Mrs Eunice Walters paid a touching tribute to
Shannon. She said "This is a very special day for a very special person" Rev
Paul Harris of Rehoboth Church then asked all pupils to think of something
that Shannon liked, such as singing, helping others, dancing and Scooby Doo.
Everyone sang Shannons favourite hymn, He's got the whole world in His
hands. The service concluded by Mrs Walters saying "Shannon was very much
missed by us all in her school family". Mr and Mrs Thomas then joined the
Head Boy and Head girl of Cwrt Sart, who represented the School Council, who
had decided to donate a bench to the garden Brynhyryd are going to create in
memory of Shannon.
